Are you ready to be stretched spiritually and enjoy all God has for you? Our Global Formation Trips have that name because you will return spiritually refreshed and changed! It is our privilege to be invited by our NCC international partner,  Hands of Hope, to serve alongside them in their ministry to children at risk, and to build relationships with each other and our hosts. We will step out of our comfort zones to experience firsthand what God is doing in another country and culture—listening, learning, and laughing as we fall in love with the kids who attend the camp.

Details

  • Our team will serve alongside the Hands of Hope staff and volunteers as they run a Vacation Bible School for orphans and at-risk children, focusing on building relationships, having fun, and introducing kids to Jesus and the Gospel. We will visit Hands of Hope projects and learn much about their ministry, the country and its people.

  • Where: Harare, Zimbabwe

Lodging: Habitation of Hope, a beautiful 134-acre property near the airport. After the VBS camp is over, we will go on a short safari for reflection and debriefing.

Getting there: We'll fly on Emirates or Qatar airlines from SFO to Harare, with an overnight stop in either Dubai or Doha.

  • Approximately $3750 per person (depends on airfare cost)

Team members are encouraged to raise financial and prayer support for the trip; we will provide guidance about how to do this.

    • This trip is appropriate for adults and mature teens with a parent.

    • A current passport is required, with an expiration date at least six months past your planned return date.

    • Our team will have five mandatory meetings, four in spring and early summer to prepare for our trip, and one post trip meeting in late July.

  • We have nine spaces available for this trip in addition to trip co-leaders Christine Taylor, Curt Taylor, and Connie Rey.

    • Application deadline: January 19

    • Applicant interviews: January 20 - February 10

    • Team finalized: February 19

It is really amazing seeing 50 children come together, laugh, jump around, and introduce themselves to strangers they don’t even know from a whole different country. Their love for Jesus and everything He does for them is shown through their energy, dedication and willingness to learn different Bible verses, as well as helping others who may struggle to learn. It is wonderful to see these children watch out for each other and treat each other like family. They also welcomed us like family.
